SPIRIT ANIMALS

ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:
What is a spirit animal?
How can you simplify a complex image?

STUDENT EXAMPLES

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Create an image of your spirit animal using a double-sized grid. Your background and medium are your choice. 

REQUIREMENTS
Prep (20 points):
  1. Resource: Correctly found and edited your photo using Microsoft Word. Video tutorial is below. - 5 points
  2. Draft: Created a draft drawing from the photo without the use of a grid - 5 points
  3. One-Inch Grid: Correctly drew a one-inch grid on your photo - 5 points
  4. Outlines: Outlined all shapes, shadow shapes, and highlight shapes - 5 points

Drawing (55 points):​
  1. Grid: Grid is used to its potential. Student drew square-by-square  - 10 points
  2. Proportions: Proportions, scale, and details are correctly drawn and placed - 15 points
  3. Craftsmanship: Final work is neat - 10 points
  4. Color: Image is carefully colored. Colors make sense and are well blended - 10 points
  5. Background: Background is original and contrasts well with the animal- 10 points

Effort (20 points):
The student took time to develop their ideas fully.  Many new techniques were tried. The student made excellent use of class time - 20 points (10 or 5 points for lesser effort)

Self Reflection- 5 points

Total Points: 100
