PRINTMAKING

Objective: Students will carve linoleum blocks to create original prints.
Level 1: 
Students will create an original drawing, transfer to lino block, and carve.
Students will:
  1. Print light colors on dark paper
  2. Print dark colors on light paper
  3. Take 3 or more of your best print and mount them for display.
  4. Draw on/around a good print/prints to create a new composition/work of art. 
  5. Create a creative composition of your own idea (banner, cards, etc.)

***You must do 1, 2, and 3
***You can choose between 4 and 5
***Extra points for doing all 5

Level 2:
Students will use the elements of art and principles of design to create an original drawing. Students should choose at least one compositional tool to focus their drawing. The drawing can be of an idea, a mood, a still life, etc. Students will transfer their drawing to lino block and carve. 
Students will:
  1. Use more than one color ink in their printing. 
  2. Blend ink colors in their printing. 
  3. Mount their best prints for display.
