OBJECTIVE: Students will create an original character and illustrate the character in a setting. Students will write a backstory for their character.
TIPS: Choose an compositional element to guide your art making, such as leading lines, diagonals, rule of thirds, symmetry, etc. Also, choose a principle of design/art to focus your work, such as emphasis, pattern, movement, space/scale, etc. You will have to write about your choices in your rubric, so think and choose carefully.
ARTIST EXAMPLES:
(Think about: What compositional elements and principles of design/art does the artist use well? How would this work of art be different if _______ (scale, focal point, symmetry, colors, etc.) were changed? What mood do you think the artist is trying to convey? How can you tell?
