PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Students will make their favorite foods out of clay.

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Your food must have multiple textures and be interesting: For example, this means you cannot do one pancake or a hotdog in a bun. Instead, do a stack of pancakes with ice cream on the top and syrup dripping down the sides, or a hotdog in a bun, with multiple condiments piled on top, and french fries on the side.
  2. Colors and textures: Your colors and textures should be realistic.
  3. Plates: Most people will probably need to make some kind of plate or bowl, especially if you have multiple food items. Extra points if your plate or bowl is decorated and original.

FIRST STEPS:
  1. Find Resources (photos, drawings, and sculptures): Go online and find multiple resources for the food items you want to create. You should find both photographs of the actual food as well drawings/paintings and sculptures of that food. Save the images you find to a word doc that you SAVE TO YOUR SCHOOL HARD DRIVE. Please try to size your images down so that you can fit all your pictures onto one printed page. Print your resources out and always have them with you.
  2. Drawings: Do a drawing that explains in a step-by-step manner how you will make your food(s) out of clay. Ms. B should be able to look at your drawings and be able to completely understand your process.
    • Think about: What will be the most challenging thing for you to create? How can you ensure that you do it correctly?
    • Think about: How will you set the food up on your plate?
    • Think about: How you will create your item out of clay?
  3. Show Ms. B: Show Ms. B your drawings. She might ask you to revisit them or think more about what you’re going to make. When you’re all done, it’s time for experimenting with the clay!
